piodermite
Dogs are often prone to skin infections of bacterial origin. These pathologies can be classified according to the depth of the infection. Pyoderma is divided into SUPERFICIAL and DEEP. Superficial pyoderma causes infection of both the hair follicles and the interfollicar regions. It is a disease in which the change in the conditions present at the skin surface determines a degradation of the surface barrier function and promotes bacterial proliferation. Deep pyoderma, on the other hand, occurs when the infection reaches the dermis leading to furunculosis, cellulite, granulomatous diseases and panniculitis. Deep pyoderma can be localized or generalized. They occur when there is a marked reduction in immunity and skin barrier function. The term pyoderma is used very generically and does not indicate the existence of visible pus in all these cases.
