allevamento bulldog inglese- buckandsons-cuccioli

The English Bulldog is a basically healthy dog, very different from the bulldog bred a few decades ago. The selection in recent years has had the objective of significantly improving the medical / health aspect, while maintaining the morphology of the breed, and the results are evident.

Unlike bulldogs of the recent past, today's bulldog is longer-lived and pathologies incompatible with a good quality of life, for example diseases of the cardiovascular system, have been almost completely eradicated. Medical / veterinary research has progressed and has shown that what is pathological for most dogs is not pathological for the bulldog. Nevertheless, it still has some small “weak points” on which it is difficult to work with the selection as it is linked to the morphology of the breed. Despite this, more and more bulldogs see the vet only for the annual vaccination prophylaxis and routine checks.

In this small section on health we have listed and tried to explain what, to date, appear to be some of what are defined as typical pathologies of the breed (such as: hip dysplasia, soft palate, demodectic mange, interdigital cysts, cyclic flank alopecia, ingrown tail ...) and some of the essential things you need to know when adopting a bulldog for the first time.
