KILLITAM

KILLITAM

First of all, it must be remembered that Killitam is a drug and for this reason it is very important, before using it, to talk about it with your veterinarian, pharmacist and / or with your trusted breeder for its correct use. Killitam is a tranquilizer and sedative for veterinary use, which can be administered orally to both dogs and cats; the company that produces it is the ITALIAN THERAPEUTIC COMPANY - A.T.I. s.r.l. It is available in any pharmacy in both drops and tablets and can be purchased with a repeatable veterinary prescription. Pharmacological properties: the active ingredient is acepromazinamaleate, a phenothiazine derivative, used as a calming-sedative, pre-anesthetic and antiemetic-antkinetosic agent. It acts by blocking dopamine, a neurotransmitter catecholamine at the brain level, with a depressant effect on the central nervous system which determines a state of tranquility in the animal associated with muscle relaxation and reduction of spontaneous activity; it also has vagolytic and antiemetic activity, it is useful for controlling vomiting associated with transport sickness. Therapeutic indications: Killitam is used in cases where it is considered useful to obtain a tranquilizing-sedative effect (for example: grooming, car trips, clinical visits on intolerant subjects, basic sedation for minor surgery, extraction of foreign bodies, prevention of heat stroke etc.). Contraindications: Phenothiazine derivatives are contraindicated to control tremors resulting from poisoning with phosphoric esters. Dosage and method of use: the dose to be used should be chosen based on the intensity of the sedative / tranquilizing effect that is desired. In general, the required dosage decreases with increasing weight and age of the animal. It is essential to remember that the effect is strictly subjective, so for the first few times it is best to administer minimal doses and be advised by your veterinarian, breeder or pharmacist. The dosage indicated in the drug information booklet is very high compared to those used as a precaution in the English bulldog in case of heat stroke, car trips, etc. We therefore remember that 1 or 2 drops, in the vast majority of bulldogs, are sufficient to reassure the dog. Administration is done orally, with morsels of food or directly into the mouth. The effect varies from dog to dog and usually lasts about a couple of hours, manifests itself in a state of sleep, tired eyes, slowed movements. For further and more detailed information, please refer to the package leaflet and / or to your veterinarian, breeder or pharmacist.
